Assassinate Maenig

Side quest

Maenig's miners want their lord dead, and will pay twice what he did.

Edowoin

After The Necromancer, Edowoin, at Maenig’s Mine, tells you the necromancer was the miners’ hope against Maenig, who works them to death. They have saved 3000 gold from the mine and offer it for Maenig’s death, with 500 gold paid now.

You receive 500 gold.

Maenig's Guards

Maenig keeps four squads of five Veterans. Three are in his keep and the fourth is in the hold below it, down the steps in the south-west. Kill all four before you face him.

If You Are Caught

Face Maenig while any squad still stands and the guards overpower you and throw you into the hold. A prisoner there, Grogr, gives away his tunnel by shouting for the guards. It leads up into a locked warehouse; strap together the iron rods lying there to ram the door open. But Maenig has walled himself into his keep, and the contract is lost.

With his guards dead, Maenig has no one to call. A Rapier of Speed lies beside his throne.

You receive Rapier of Speed.

The Reward

Edowoin pays the other 2500 gold.

You receive 2,500 gold.

The party's journal

It seems our previous quest for Lord Maenig was not appreciated by his serfs. Apparently they hired the necromancer to put a stop to Maenig's oppression. Now they're offering us twice the reward to kill Maenig. Even better, they've paid us partially up front. We just have to make sure we kill Maenig's guards before we make an attempt on his life.

The task is done. We swept through Maenig's keep eliminating his guards. Without help, he was easy to finish off.
