The Abastral Test
Side quest
The Abastral mages rank their members by a dangerous test, taken only once.
Bahaeron
Bahaeron, in the east of the Hidden City of Mages, administers the test. It can kill you, and it can only be taken once, so prepare first. Enter the portal beside him when you are ready.
The Test
The test is four rooms, from south to north. In each, the left portal (T) is the trial: a fight with six Goblins, then six Trolls, six Weak Forces, and six Undead Wolves. The right portal (N) takes you to the next room after the trial, but ends the test if you take it first; take it before the first trial to end the test without trying. The chest at the end holds one reward, by how far you got: one trial, Initiate, a Crown of Strength (3); two, Journeyman, Wizard Skin Gloves (2); three, Mage, a Feral Dirk (4); all four, Archmage, a Wizard Blade (1). With no trial, you are a member without rank. The portal beside the chest takes you back to the city.
Membership
Whatever your rank, you are now Abastral. The innkeeper at the arena for levels 8 to 11, north-east of Ilmari, lets members upstairs, where spells are sold that are found nowhere else.
The party's journal
We have met Bahaeron, the administrator of the Abastral Wizard Test. We've been invited to take the test, but we've been warned that it is difficult to complete. We may take it whenever we are ready.
