A lich below the ruins of Yanthenar was once the king's Guardian, and he begs to be set free.

Below the Ruins

The way below the ruins of Yanthenar starts in the hills just south of them. Of the many cave mouths there, take the one in the north-east.

The Caves

You come down in the north-east of the caves. The passage to the lich’s cave is a short way north.

The Lich

A lich and five Skeleton Lords attack. When you strike him down he rises again, but holds his minions back and speaks. He is Scaraugh, once Guardian to the king, who fell here with his knights in the quake that destroyed Yanthenar. The magic of the trolls’ shaman keeps their life force trapped. His skeletons clear an old passage through the rock to a ladder up into the walled-off north of the ruins.

The Troll Shaman

The shaman is in the north-east of the ruins, guarded by five Troll Warriors. A Cursed Ring of Power lies close by.

Scaraugh's Armor

Back below, Scaraugh is free of the curse and drops his breastplate for you, Scaraugh’s Armor (1 on the lich’s cave).

The party's journal

While searching the dangerous ruins of Yanthenar we were confronted by a lich who identified himself as Scaraugh, former Guardian to the fallen king. He is cursed and the only way to save him is to kill the troll shaman who taints the life force in the city.

Scaraugh is now free of his curse. In return for our aid, he has given us his magic breastplate.
