Murder!
Side quest
A citizen of Trost has vanished, and the Warriors' Guild's investigator has only a strange pendant to go on.
Anaxalar
In Colvas’s house in the south of Trost, Anaxalar of the Warriors’ Guild is investigating his disappearance. There are signs of a struggle but no body, and his only clue is a pendant, a gold ring around a black gem with a rune on it. Ask around town about it.
The Pendant
Keldan, in the north of Trost, has seen one like it on Dianha, a merchant from Sebastian’s Keep. Dianha says it is a pendant of the Necris monks, pawned to her by an old man who hired a few locals and headed north-west.
The Hired Help
The house is two squares west and two north of Sebastian’s Keep. Pick the lock and go in. Three groups of thugs and walking dead wait inside; kill their leader and the rest scatter. Search the house for a note, a Fez of Wisdom, and 350 gold. The note says to meet a contact at the crossroads between Zephyr and Unschuld, and to bring the corpses.
- You receive Fez of Wisdom.
- You receive 350 gold.
Eldim
Eldim waits at the crossroads, two squares south of Zephyr. Tell him you have the bodies and he sends you to a rock near the river north-west of Zephyr.
The Rock
A loose panel on the rock slides it aside, opening a hole into the earth.
Brother Zauberer
The robed old man in the north of the lair is Brother Zauberer, a Necris monk, raising an army of undead with the monks’ Totbuch to fight The Rein. Colvas would not help him, so Zauberer killed him for his army. Fight him and his six Undead. Colvas’s body (1) lies to the north-east, with a Shield of the Magi. The bookcase (T) holds the Totbuch itself; see Find the Totbuch.
The party's journal
Anaxalar of the Warriors' Guild is investigating the murder of Colvas in Trost. Perhaps we can help. Our only clue is a strange pendant. We should ask around town for information.
A local named Keldan was able to identify the pendant as belonging to Dianha, a merchant at Sebastian's Keep.
We met Dianha. The pendant belongs to the Necris monks. She had others that she claims were pawned by an old man passing through. All she could say was he hired some local men and headed northwest.
All we found was a strange note to meet someone at the intersection between Zephyr and Unschuld. And to bring the corpses...
A man named Eldim met us at the intersection and told us to take the bodies northwest of Zephyr. He said to look for a rock near the river.
Anaxalar seemed relieved that the murder has been solved. His guild provided him an ample bounty to give us for our trouble.
