Inside Unschuld
Main story quest
With Sebastian's letter, the party can get into Unschuld, where The Rein has its headquarters.
Get the Letter
Lord Sebastian hands over the letter of passage, however you paid for it.
Into Unschuld
Unschuld lies north of Sebastian’s Keep. Only the guard at the west gate will accept the letter; the one at the east gate sends you to the other. Inside, a crowd has gathered for a public execution, and the condemned man is Dieb. As he is led past, he tells you that the guild’s client works for The Rein, that Nina and Stiletto turned on him, and that his journal is in The Rein’s headquarters. Get it, and get out. The way into the headquarters is a ladder down inside a building a short way south of the west gate, on the east side of the street.
The Headquarters
A robed librarian lives on this floor and attacks when you speak to him. His nightstand (N) holds a locked drawer; pick it for a key. The ladder down to the lower level is in the south-east. Around the floor are 230 gold (1), 25 gold (2), a Health Elixir (3), a Life Elixir (4), a Blowgun (5), and a Small Shield (6).
Dieb's Journal
The lower level holds The Rein’s stockpile of confiscated books. Five of them each teach a spell for free: Burn (1), Explosion (2), Slow (3), Great Heal (4), and Weakness (5). Decrepit Mail (6), a Magic Elixir (7), and a Short Sword (8) lie about too. The key from the nightstand opens the steel door (D). Behind it, a ladder leads down to where Dieb’s journal is kept. It describes an ancient book that records where every crystal is. As you read, Nina and Stiletto step out. They have been working for the guild’s client all along, and they have the party thrown into The Rein’s prison to await execution. Continue with Escaping The Rein.
The party's journal
We have our Writ. Now we must get into Unschuld.
The writ worked and we are inside. We entered just in time to witness the daily execution - and Dieb was the victim! He tried to warn us about our client and The Rein. He said we must find his journal in their headquarters. The entrance should be somewhere in the city.
Dieb's journal contained many notes about the crystals and references to an ancient text. He must have known something about the crystals and tried to get out of the deal with The Rein. But whatever Dieb knew was too important to let him live.
Nina caught us! We're now stuck in prison and waiting for our execution.
