Oops! Sorry about that - forgot to put the revised cutscene script file in the zip file. It still had the old one. Try re-downloading DA2_v2.zip and playing now.

Loving the new version.  It's works fine on my Core 2 Duo.  I have a ATI video card that isn't on the motherboard.  I haven't have any video issues.  The game seems stable and hasn't crashed once for me.

Awesome work so far!  Smiley

DA ... my observations. Terrific!!! Took my Business Vista down to bare minimum and finally got it to work reasonably with the 945 video chipset. Performed major cpu channel and memory modification, component reduction, driver rollbacks and other manipulation that made my laptop unusable for anything productive. It's well known that Microsoft neglected sufficient video and display testing when they released Vista. The general observation from my viewpoint is to avoid the 945 chipset and Vista Business combination. I did have great success on another Compaq Presario Laptop A900 running Vista Home Premium. That laptop uses the 965 video chipset and is stable in assigning its dual core processes and manipulating the memory. The game worked fine with just a few hitches. During battle, the mage can ingest magic elixirs. Outside of a battle, I couldn't drag and drop the elixir into the box at his waist. The pile of bones blocking access to the necromancer crashed the game twice and brings up a bunch of pointers and script from your big file. It eventually brought up a battle scene much like one from a training arena with 4 different characters. The 3 heroes dispatched the bad guys and got the pants, but the necromancer dialogue reported that the NPCscript was unavailable. The heroes are stranded in the prison after the crypt. They built up quite a nest-egg of 15K gold, but their diversion crashes the game. The text on the shopping comparison button says DONE. That module itself is very cool. You have done extensive programming which is moving your game into the commercial realm in execution. Damien recently did it with Laxius Force and Amanda has done it with Aveyond, etc. Keep up your good efforts for Engel. It really is a ton of fun to play your game.

Thanks for the post. I'll hunt down those script bugs...VB was more forgiving of bad syntax, so scripts that worked before seem to break now. Oh well, I should have scripted correctly from the start. Smiley

Sorry for the slow production the past few weeks. School is taking up a lot of time right now and I've told my committee I'm going to defend my thesis this summer. There might not be another update until then. But I hope to have a completed beta of the new engine: all features implemented.

I've been playing the Feb. 6, 2009 stable release of DA2.exe with no problems until I try to exit the REIN prison and the divesionary BOOM!!! crashes the game.

Do you have a newer stable release that might fix this?

Thanks for the fine work,

Perry

Sorry, I've been MIA for so long. It's been a busy couple of months.

I do have newer code, not sure if it fixes that problem specifically though. I'll see if I can package something up this weekend. I have to sort through several things that I wrote many months ago.

Any new updates? Any chance of getting the old DA2 source code?  Smiley
